Standedge Tunnel Country Fair
We attended Standedge Tunnel Country Fair on Sunday 31st July...giving away some goodies and getting you guys snapped for our gallery...
It was the first ever Standedge Tunnel Country Fair, which showcased local food producers and artisan craft makers. Food enthusiasts could buy locally produced jams, chutneys and honey, sweet treats, oils and vinegars, cider and free range meat products at the weekend. Handmade jewellery and textiles were also be available to purchase at the free event.
Younger visitors got up close and personal with an array of farm animals in the mini farm, they watched a traditional Punch and Judy Show and took part in a number of summertime craft related activities including making a sunflower collage and pompom animals on a country animal theme. Throughout the weekend people attending the Country Fair were also encouraged to take part in a craft challenge, which involved helping to produce art panels with the theme “summertime”.
Thirty minute guided boat trips into the tunnel were also available throughout the weekend, and families also took advantage of the new outdoor adventure play area and soft play centre in the visitor centre.
