‘Privet Drive’ home goes up for sale

Harry Potter fans have the chance to live in the wizard’s home as the real Privet Drive goes up for sale.

The original location for the Dursley’s home is actually as a three-bedroom property in Bracknell, Berkshire.

The iconic home – which has gone on the market for £475,000 – was chosen in 2001 to be where Harry first lived in the cupboard under the stairs.

Better known as 4 Privet Drive, its current owners have carried out an extensive renovation and buyers will get three bedrooms, plenty of living space and a sizable garden.

According to the listing, the home is: “Situated in a quiet cul-de-sac location, this detached property has recently undergone complete renovation to an extremely high standard.”

It was last sold for £290,000 in May 2010.

The home boasts a spacious garden with a large patio and grass area.

Upstairs there are three bedrooms, including a master with an en-suite and a family bathroom.

And new owners will be able to make their own use of the cupboard under the stairs.

Harry was forced to live in the pokey space by his cruel aunt and uncle before heading to Hogwarts.

Logistical problems meant the actual house only ever featured in one of the films – but the whole street was recreated in a studio for the later films.

Harry Potter fans can now visit the set on the Warner Bros studio tour in Leavesden, Hertfordshire.
