1D would have released two albums in the time it has taken Louis Tomlinson to create his debut.
But the former band member is still determined to become a solo success and I can reveal he’s parted company with his management team in a bid to head in a new direction.
He signed two years ago to UK-based James Grant Management, which has names including Ant & Dec and Holly Willoughby among its clients.
But this week he decided to jump ship and the two sides agreed to the split.
A music insider said: “Louis has decided to try a new team and is looking for someone who can help him have international success.
“His first two singles have had 800million streams online already but he has some new ideas about what to do next. There are no hard feelings from the team at James Grant, they’ve wished him all the best.
“Louis is still very close with Simon Cowell and discussed it with him.
“Simon is completely supportive. It doesn’t impact his record deal with Syco in any way.”
Louis is in the studio working on new tunes.
"They will be released this year following on from his four solo singles from the past 18 months.
"I’m told Louis is already being courted by several major management firms after news of the split filtered through the industry.
"It comes a fortnight after his former bandmate Zayn Malik was dropped by his management over claims he had become difficult to work with.
Zayn, along with Harry Styles and Niall Horan have already successfully released solo albums, while it looks like Liam Payne's will be out this year.
Louis will be hoping the slow and steady approach wins in the long term.
