Liam Payne claims him and Cheryl are so ‘normal’

Liam Payne has claimed he and girlfriend Cheryl are “so normal” it would “bore” people if he spoke about their relationship.

The ex-One Direction singer insisted the couple were back on good form after they had hit a rocky patch in February which saw him seek legal advice ahead of a potential split.

He said that the reason he hasn’t jumped to their defence in recent weeks is because to do so would be tedious to those listening.

In an exclusive interview, he said: “I have a happy family life. We’re incredibly normal.

“It would actually bore you if I told you how normal we were. I love my life. It’s great. We’re having a great time.”

Liam, 24, also hit back at criticism he has spent barely any time with 13-month-old son Bear and Cheryl, 34, instead choosing to tour his solo material around the world and heavily promo his Fifty Shades collaboration with Rita Ora, 27.

The singer argued he would be a bad role model to Bear if he quit work to be a stay-at-home dad.

In an interview with Elliot Holman on Total Access, he said: “People have an issue with me going out to work. I know there are a lot of parents out there who are working really hard for their kids.

“Unfortunately, when you have a child, life does not stop, you have to carry on.

"For me, the main thing is this, I can either sit round at home and be a bum and enjoy the success I’ve had so far and teach my son absolutely nothing and all the wrong morals or I can go out and work really hard for what I want and do some amazing things and through the success show him what you can do with your life if you try.”

Liam and Cheryl, said to be worth £20million, are not married but share a £5.1million mansion in Surrey.

The Sun first revealed their romance in 2016 and the couple welcomed baby son Bear in March 2017.

The couple then put on a united front at the Brit Awards this year following reports of their troubled relationship.

Cheryl was there to support her boyfriend who performed his song For You, from the new Fifty Shades Freed film, on stage with Rita Ora.

Just 24 hours later Liam was back on the road again and jetted out to Miami - leaving Cheryl with their child.

The 10-year age gap between the two and Liam’s pursuit of a solo career are believed to be the main reasons behind the split rumours.
