Disney unveiled the much-anticipated news via Twitter, revealing that the sequel would be hitting cinemas on 27 November 2019.
And despite the fact that fans will still have to wait over two and a half years for the film, they couldn’t help voice their utter elation at the news.
One tweeted: “Let’s gooooooooo!”
Another commented: “❄❄ FROZEN 2 WILL BE OUT NOVEMBER 27, 2019!!!! HOORAY ❄❄.”
A third simply exclaimed: “FROZEN 2!!!!! ❣❣.”
Its cast members Idina Menzel, Josh Gad, Kristen Bell and Jonathan Groff also tweeted the happy news.
Kristen, who plays Anna, tweeted: “Quick weather forecast from your favorite disney princess’ sister: Theaters are gonna get Frozen on November 27, 2019! Woo Hoo!!!!”
Meanwhile Idina wrote: “It’s happening! All my Elsas say ho!”
Sadly, the film’s plot is under wraps, but directors Chris Buck and Jennifer Lee will be returning, as will producer Peter Del Vecho.
The filmmakers have, however, previously said that they came up with the ending of Frozen 2 and worked back.
Disney have also revealed that the live action version of the Lion King would be released in cinemas on 19 July the same year.
