FBI considers Brad Pitt allegations on private flight

The FBI has said it is gathering information into an alleged incident on an aircraft carrying Brad Pitt and his children.

Laura Eimiller said the agency is evaluating whether to open its own investigation into allegations Pitt clashed with one of his six children.

"The FBI is continuing to gather facts and will evaluate whether an investigation at the federal level will be pursued," she said.

Several media outlets, using anonymous sources, have reported that the actor is now under investigation by a child welfare agency.

The Los Angeles County Department of Children and Families refused to say whether it was investigating Pitt.

Messages left for Pitt's representatives were not immediately returned.

Angelina Jolie Pitt filed for divorce on Monday, saying she came to the decision "for the health of the family".

She has asked for physical custody of the couple's six children.

Jolie, 41, and Pitt, 52, known collectively as Brangelina, married in 2014 after 10 years together.

They first met when they played married spies in the film Mr And Mrs Smith, when Pitt was still married to Friends star Jennifer Aniston.
