Brooks Way won't be returning to The X Factor after one of them was accused of sending threatening messages to an ex-girlfriend.
The brothers didn't take part in the first of the live programmes on Saturday.
Now Josh Brooks says he decided 'it's best not to be on the show at this time' - and has said on social media that people shouldn't believe everything they read.
In a statement, Josh said: "Due to events in my personal life I've decided that it's best not to be on the show at this time. While not everything that has been claimed is true I would like to apologise to everyone involved."
An X Factor spokesman added: "Following the allegations relating to Josh Brooks, we have decided by mutual consent that Brooks Way should leave the competition."
Producers say another act will be brought in to replace them.
