Ed Sheeran, Sam Smith and Srormzy top the bill of domestic headline acts to perform on UK music’s biggest night of the year.
All three are likely to feature heavily among the gongs handed out on the evening, with Ed the likeliest to walk away with the most awards on the back of his record breaking album Divide.
He’ll certainly be more valued by the Brits committee than their Grammys’ counterparts.
Ed failed to receive a single nomination in the major categories for January’s US gongs when they were revealed last month.
But a Brits insider said: “Show chiefs were desperate to secure Ed, Sam and Stormzy as they’re the biggest names in UK music right now.
“The combined record and streaming figures are insane and the booking is bound to add numbers on the viewing figures too.
“It’s shaping up to be a top night.”
Rising star DUA LIPA, who is hotly tipped to be nominated and could even win the British Female award, has a performance slot at the February 21 ceremony at London’s O2 Arena. It caps an incredible breakthrough year for the Londoner.
Ed and Stormzy performed together during this year’s ceremony — a remix of Ed’s No1 track Shape Of You.
It was one of the highlights of the evening, certainly more memorable than THE 1975’s performance.
Funnyman JACK WHITEHALL was last week announced as the new host for the Brits, taking over the reins from DERMOT O’LEARY and EMMA WILLIS who did a great job replacing MICHAEL BUBLE at short notice for this year’s ceremony.
It will be interesting to see if Nineties boyband fan Jack can use his power to book in a performance of his choosing.
