Life's A Beach In Bradford!

The centre of Bradford has been transformed into a large urban beach this summer as part of the Bradford Festival.

Nearly 40 tonnes of sand is being brought to City Park to create a 242 square metre ‘beach’ complete with classic seaside props such as striped deck chairs, colourful beach huts and comical peep through boards.

The Urban Beach will open 12 July and run until the end of the month and entry will be free.

City Park’s mirror pool is currently closed for repairs following a flood in its pump room. It is expected to be back to full operation in November.

Councillor Alex Ross-Shaw, Portfolio Holder for Regeneration, Planning and Transport, said: “We are thrilled to be offering this brilliant seaside experience right in the heart of Bradford.

“It should be great fun, especially for children and young families.”

"The water will be back from next month, but the fountain needs a bigger replacement system.
