Cannabis Plants Seized In Huddersfield

Officers acted on information received from the public and successfully carried out two warrants under the misuse of drugs acts.

The Huddersfield Neighbourhood Policing team seized over 150 cannabis plants from two addresses in Huddersfield over the weekend.

Cannabis grows at two unrelated locations, one on Westgate in Huddersfield town centre and another at an address in Crosland Moor were located.

A 35-year-old man was arrested in connection with the seizure at Westgate in Huddersfield on suspicion of production of Class B drugs.

The cannabis grows varied in number of plants, with one being of a significant size, and very well organised with over a 150 mature plants. The other was a smaller grow with a few plants.  

Inspector James Kitchen from Huddersfield Neighbourhood team said: 

"We want to reassure the community that all the information we receive from members of the public will always be reviewed and when possible take positive action.

"We understand we aren’t always in a position to personally report back on what we do with any intelligence received, however, we will always try and keep you updated to local issues through our website and social media channels.

"I would like to thank the people in our communities who came forward with vital information related to these incidents, which has directly led to taking a significant amount of drugs from the streets of Huddersfield and disputed those who hurt our communities.

"The investigation is continuing and I would like to appeal to anyone with any information regarding these crimes or any others are urged to ring 101 or report through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
