Bradford Bulls To Leave Odsal Home

The Bulls' new temporary home will be Tetley Stadium in Dewsbury.

Bradford Bulls have announced that, after 85-years, they will leave Odsal Stadium on September 1.

In a statement, Chairman Andrew Chalmers blamed the cost of rent and maintenance for the decision.

From next season, Bradford's new home will be Tetley Stadium in Dewsbury, subject to ratification from The Rugby Football League.

Chalmers said: "For a considerable period, Odsal Stadium has seen the Bradford Bulls journey from global world club champions, to League 1 participants, as the club in its various forms transitioned through the relegation and promotion trap door.

"I believe this decision is firmly in the best long term interests of the club, provides financial sustainability, protects the history and legacy of the Bradford Bulls, and allows the Bulls to focus on developing young rugby talent through our Tong high performance academy, under the careful eye of our coaching and development staff."

Our Rugby League commentator Mick Gledhill gave this reaction to the news:

The club also say that work has already begun to identify a site for a brand new stadium in Bradford.
